Lithuanian solar energy company will supply Armenian education, art, medical institutions with clean energy

The Lithuanian solar energy company Solet and the OHM Energy will install a solar power plant in Armenia, which will provide electricity to 10 public institutions, including schools, educational, medical and other institutions.
According to the head of the company Andrius Karazinas, the installed solar power plant will generate over 174 thousand kWh of electricity per year, which will account for 87% of the annual electricity demand of institutions. Until now, these institutions depend on electricity only from the grid.
The Lori region is located in the northeast of Armenia and borders Georgia. The administrative center of the region – Vanadzor – is the third largest city in Armenia. The solar power plant will supply the Vanadzor Community Art School, the Komit-named educational and educational institution, the Vanadzor polyclinic N3, the Gugark Central Polyclinic, the Jrashen Medical Clinic, the Lori Pampak Geological Museum, H. Tumanyan Primary Saralanjo School, spitak R. Lori Elementary School N5, Tegut High School, Vanadzor School N2 named after A. Isahakyan, 21 primary schools named after Gai.
Work on the implementation of the project began in August last year, it is planned that the solar power plant will be installed in August this year. The aim of the project is climate change mitigation and the supply of renewable electricity to the Armenian population. The works are funded by the Climate Change Programme, which is administered by the Environmental Project Management Agency (EPVA). Part of the funds is also provided by the company "Solet" together with partners.
Since 2018, Solet has already implemented 16 bilateral development cooperation projects in other countries, such as Georgia, Moldova, Armenia and Nigeria. In them, the company installed over 60 power plants in schools, kindergartens, war refugee camps, hospitals and other institutions.
